Why We Put a 2-Year Warranty on Our Linen Sheets

Why We Put a 2-Year Warranty on Our Linen Sheets

Every set of Lurline linen sheets is now covered by a 2-year warranty. If your sheets tear, pill, or come apart at the seams within two years of ordinary use, we’ll replace them.

What the warranty actually covers
The warranty covers manufacturing faults — the things that are our fault rather than yours. That includes seams failing, stitching unravelling, fabric tearing under normal use, and excessive pilling. It applies to all our linen sheet sets, fitted sheets, flat sheets and pillowcases.

It doesn’t cover the things linen does naturally, or the things life does to bedding. Fading from years of sunlight, stains, damage from bleach or harsh detergents, tears from pets, or the gradual softening and relaxing of the weave that happens to all linen over time.

If something goes wrong, email us with a photo and your order details. We’ll sort it out from there.

Why we can offer this
A warranty is only as good as the product behind it, and we are confident in our product!

Our sheets are made from 100% European flax linen. Flax has one of the longest staple lengths of any natural fibre, which means fewer fibre ends working their way loose over time and it’s also significantly stronger than cotton.

We stonewash the fabric before it’s cut, so the softness you feel on the first night is built into the fibre rather than applied as a finish that washes out.

Bedding shouldn’t be disposable
Household textiles have quietly become one of the more wasteful categories in the home. Sheets get replaced every couple of years, the old set goes in the bin, and the cycle repeats. It’s an expensive habit for the buyer and a generates excessive textile waste.

Linen can help as a solution. Flax needs far less water than cotton to grow, tolerates poorer soil, and a good linen sheet has a working life measured in years rather than seasons.
Warranties change what a brand is incentivised to do. If we’re on the hook for replacements, we can’t quietly thin the fabric to protect a margin. That’s the accountability we wanted, and it’s why we’ve made the warranty a public commitment.

A note on your existing rights
Nothing here replaces what you’re already entitled to. Under Australian Consumer Law, goods must be of acceptable quality and fit for purpose, and those guarantees apply regardless of what any manufacturer’s warranty says. Our 2-year warranty sits on top of that, not in place of it.

Making them last
The warranty is a safety net, not a maintenance plan. A few things genuinely extend the life of linen:
• Wash on low heat — 30°C or below. Hot water accelerates fibre breakdown.
• Skip the fabric softener. It coats the fibres and makes linen less absorbent, not more supple.
• Don’t overload the machine. Fabric needs room to move; crushed loads abrade against themselves.
• Tumble on low heat.

Do that, and two years should be the beginning of the story rather than the end of it.
