Who is Lurline Co.?

Lurline Co. is an online e-commerce store designing coastal inspired homewares for Australian consumers. We sell bed linen, linen robes, cushion covers and tableware all designed in Sydney, Australia by Emilie & Louise, a mother and daughter duo. Our products have sustainability in mind and use high quality materials. We do our best to keep prices affordable so we can all have a bit of luxury in our homes. 

Why did we start Lurline Co.?

Lurline Co. Was started because, to be honest, we have an obsession with homewares! However, homewares are so expensive and the quality feels like it continues to decline, with trends continuously changing. We thought with our passion for interior design (including an interior architect in the family), that we could create lovely homewares we would use in our own home, in timeless designs. We would offer an online-only model and procure all ourselves in-house to keep costs down. This allows us to produce beautiful high quality products at a discount to the major homeware retailers. 

Why do we use coastal style in our designs?

The ocean is a huge part of our family. Growing up, we spent holidays at the beach and it was a sense of freedom, joy and love being by the water. We think that coastal interior design brings a bit of the beach into your home. Not only is it very in vogue, but it creates a feeling in the space that inspired being by the ocean. 

What is coastal interior design?

Coastal style captures the seaside lifestyle. It typically uses minimalistic modernism with natural fibres and neutral colours with hues of blue and yellow. It captures natural light to create open and airy spaces to give your home a beachy and relaxed feel. Common textures used are linen and jute often with stripes and crisp whites.

What are the benefits of flax linen over cotton or bamboo sheets?

Both linen and cotton are natural fibres however, linen which is sourced from the flax plant, is a stronger fibre that will make your linen sheets more durable than the cotton alternative. Linen sheets are hypoallergenic so are a great match for anyone with sensitive skin.Linen bedding keeps you cooler during those hot summer nights and warmer in winter due to its natural thermo-regulation. Linen has the ability to absorb twenty per cent of its weight in water so linen sheets have moisture wicking power. In practice this means no more sweaty nights. Linen bedding is anti-static and anti-bacterial so make for a healthier sleep. Linen has more texture than the polished feel of cotton, however, its fibres soften with use.

What is the thread count of the Lurline linen?

The thread count of Lurline bed linen is up to 180 GSM. The thread count of the bed cover is 300 GSM. 

Is Lurline Co linen OTEX certified? 

Lurline linen is crafted from the 100% European flax fibres and is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified. 

Are linen sheets scratchy?

No, good quality linen sheets, like from Lurline Co, do not feel scratchy or rough. They should feel soft to the touch and will get even softer over time.
